Tuesday Treats 123: Bitesize Review (Part 2.)

by 0

Your once a week dose of retail therapy from Singletrack’s Premier Dealers, stockists and advertisers.

Tuesday Treats gives you a quality serving of independent bike retailing and a chance to win big in this week’s prize draw.

This week, we continue to review (in bitesize fashion): Tuesday Treats 2014

As we were reminding ourselves last week, that whether they be independent bike shops, custom bike builders, online retailers, clothing brands, holiday, skills or tour companies, Singletrack’s Premier Dealers immerse themselves in the world of mountain biking to offer you guys the very best in advice, gear and service.

Cardiff’s Muddybum Bikes showed us their custom Transition Carbon Covert. Thank you gentlemen

Each week one of our Premier Dealers talks shop, to point you in the right direction with your MTB decision making. In-store, on’t internet or by taking you off  riding promised lands, Premier Dealers are, to their core, champions of the sport we love. For that reason alone, as another year is drawing to a close here’s an opportunity to celebrate their work.

We started off in an albeit, rather unscientific fashion by presenting to you Bitesize Review (Part 1.)

To sweeten things further, we’ve had a chin wag with the double Tuesday Treats award winner Charlie the Bikemonger, who’s kindly offering up the treats this week, in addition to Part 2.

Cheers Charlie!

Premier Dealer ‘Workshop of the Year’

You don’t win a Bike Biz Awards without learning a thing or two about the bike trade first. With over twenty years in the business of providing the type of service that allows the confidence to expand from their long term base in Otley (North Leeds), into two new locations (Skipton and Harrogate) in the same year, Yorkshire’s Chevin Cycles walked away with the coveted ‘Independent Bike Dealer of the Year’ award.

So much of focus being placed on excellence right from the shop floor, to their investment in bespoke ‘bike fit’ services, through to the workshop and aftersales service. Nice work guys.

Premier Dealer ‘Shop frontage of the Year’

They gave us very little option with this scene on show. As warm and inviting as it gets we say and from the square in Strathpeffer, an area rightly renowned for wonderful Scottish Highlands riding, comes Steve Macdonald and crew at Square Wheels.

In another world, Grand Designs might suggest it as a ‘welcoming, retro-retro pavilion-meets-Edwardian-bike hut’ (but to our knowledge they didn’t and in truth, we obviously made it up).

Tut tut. To think some sniggered when we boldly published this image in August? Not so out of place now eh?

Singletrack Reader’s ‘Trail Inspired Images of the Year’

Last week, we asked the prize draw entrants to scour their smartphone, pocket camera or cheesebox and from it, send in an inspirational riding/trail shot. Thanks to everyone who did.

Five lucky winners are on display here and to boot, will be kicking off the (usually quite sober) January weekends, supping some of Purity Brewing Co’s limited edition ‘Gnarly’ ale. From the sublime to the ridiculous, nice work ya’ll!
